Abstract:	About one year ago, this situation was at least partly alleviated by the institution of the G.M. Shrum Entrance Scholarships (thirty @ $300) and an annual fund of about $31,000 for Simon Fraser University Open Scholarships. Undoubtedly, due to the discouraging results which were encountered for applications lodged in previous semesters (when a very limited number of scholarships were available), the infusion of the above scholarship funds allowed the Committee to consider what were in retrospect a probably superficially low number of applicants with G.P.A.'s in the 3.4 to 3.5 range and students with G.P.A.'s of 3.7 to 4.0 could be awarded significant scholarships ($250 to $275).
