Knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts in immunology and immunobiology and
research techniques, methods and analyses related to immunology.
RATIONALE
Adding BISC303 and MBB309W expected to create greater flexibility for students while
maintaining pre-req level knowledge (with HSCI426) and potentially increasing enrollment.
Adding 2h lecture requested based on student feedback to enhance delivery of experimental
background and writing/review of experimental data/lab reports, in line with BISC &MBB labs.

Knowledge and understanding of current scientific literature related to infectious diseases and
vaccine research, general concepts of vaccination/vaccines, immunological aspects of
vaccinology, correlates of immune protection, and the concept of adjuvantation.
RATIONALE
HSCI/MBB426 determined as providing sufficient background as pre-req and most students
expected to have taken at least one related lab course in HSCI, MBB or BISC by the time they
enroll in HSCI 477; having BISC303 as pre-req superfluous.
