    FROM: Faculty of Education
RE: Remove EDUC 859 from list of temporarily withdrawn courses
    DATE: 2012 October 29
    EDUC 859-5 Philosophy ofScience
    and
Perspectives on Education - An introductory
examination of various philosophical positions about the nature of science, including
logical positivism, naive realism, instrumentalism, relativism and social constructionism,
and their relation to curriculum and instruction in science.
This is a request to remove EDUC 859-5, Philosophy of Science and Perspectives on
Education, from the list of temporarily withdrawn courses. This course was
temporarily withdrawn by Senate at its April 12,2012 meeting (S. 12-71, SGSC
2012.18). Our intent is to schedule the course in the Summer 2013 term.
For some time the Faculty has intended to broaden its course offerings for graduate
students in the area of science education. With the recent hire of a faculty member
specializing in science education, we are now in a position to do so, and EDUC 859 is
the most appropriate course for this purpose.
Please do not hesitate to contact me directly should you have any questions regarding
    this matter.
    Sincerely,
    *V>*u,
