RE: Arts Education Master of Arts and Master of Education
DATE: 2012 September 28
For consideration at the November 5th meeting, please find attached changes tothe
Arts Education Master of Arts and Master of Education programs. We are requesting a
change to the current calendar wording to allow direct entry to the master of arts
program effective the summer 2013 term.

of Education Council September 24, 2012.

ENGAGING THE WORLD
Rationale;
The current wording prevents us from offering any student direct entry as a master of arts (MA) student into the
Arts Education masters program. Only MA students are eligible to apply for entrance packages and SSHRC
funding, and SSHRC funding applications need to be completed during the first semester
of the program. We are
therefore asking for this calendar change to provide some flexibility for offering an outstanding candidate the
option of entering the program as an MA rather than MEd student. They will still need to complete all the
required courses as currently specified in the calendar.
