Description:
The SFU.Native Teacher Education Program begins this Fall with a semester
of academic courseWork plus Education 490. The latter is intended to
provide an introduction to the practicum experience prior to Education
401/402. The purposes of Education 490 are a) to assist participants in
developing ways of looking at and describing what goes on in classrooms,
and b) to introduce participants to their instructional role by working with
Individual pupils and small groups. Participants will attend seminars and
spend one day a week in a classroom setting.

Learning Outcomes: Participants will
1.
demonstrate systematic observation skills,
2.
establish respectful
'and ethical working relationships
with pupils and others in the educational community,
3.
plan, teach and evaluate short learning experiences which
are designed to achieve specific objectives and demonstrate
awareness of pupil needs.
Evaluation
will be based upon
1. demonstration of learning outcomes
.2. attendance and participation
3. child study project Including needs assessment,
3-4 lesson plans, implementation, pupil evaluation
and modifications based upon that feedback.
