    The immersion student - attitudes, milieu, parental expectations, motivation.
    Emphasis on the integration of the four skills (listening, speaking, reading
    and writing). Error analysis and specific strategies for prevention and correction.
    Evaluation and modification of commercial or prescriptive programs. The role of the
    Arts in immersion.
    Specific Topics:
    1.
    What is immersion? related to FSL, FMT, EMT (early, intermediate, late)
    2.
    Model for Learning - applied specifically to language learning
    3.
    Approaches to language learning - emphasis on communicative approach
    4.
    Listening, speaking, reading and writing (integrated)
    5.
    Reading - what is reading? what are our aims in reading? how to achieve them?
    6.
    Ministry guides - authorized methods & objectives
    7.
    Research findings in immersion
    8.
    Subjects taught in a second language - balance between content and language
    9. Long-term planning
    10.
    Materials, resources, media, subscriptions, etc.
    11.
    Marking and correcting - how to analyze results and to readjust plans (pre-testing)
    12.
    Student presentations - literature, unit outline and integrated unit

    Requirements:
    - preparation of learning situations intended to stimulate communication
    - lessons, activities, games to demonstrate specific techniques
    - modification of a reading unit as presented in a method
    - an integrated unit outline
