    THE PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS OF CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND
    DISCIPLINE WITHIN THE BRITISH COLUMBIA SCHOOL SYSTEM

    The general topic of Classroom Management and Discipline is
    organized as follows:
    1)
    The organizational and administrative provisions in the
    B.C. school system pertaining to discipline and classroom
    management procedures.
    Reference to B.C. Public Schools Act and Rules of the Council
    of Public Instruction.
    2)
    Organizational patterns of the various schools and their
    implications for discipline and classroom management.
    (Political, sociological/social psychological considerations).
    Some descriptions of what students observed in their 401
    practicum.
    3)
    An examination of the Adler-Dreikers-Glasser approach to
    reality-oriented, humanistic discipline and classroom
    management. Discussion and practice of this approach.
    The topics to be discussed will include the theoretical
    basis for this approach, the development of personality with
    reference to Family Constellation, with both the principles
    and applications of logical and natural consequences and the
    encouragement process.
    The course will be presented through a lecture and lab-
    seminar format and will comprise four credit hours of course
    work.
