    Range of Topics:
    The focus of the course will be on education in a
    variety of cultural and social contexts. These will
    include Canadian examples as well as case studies from
    the U.S., Africa and Asia. In addition to analyzing case
    studies the concepts of cultural transmission, sociali-
    zation and culture change will be discussed. Particular
    attention will be given to the role that schools have
    played as agents of cultural and social change in
    North America.
