I. OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this course is to let the students extend their knowledge in
the different subject areas and teaching techniques relevant to French Immersion
Programs (F.I.P.) and Programme-cadre de francais (P.C.D.F.).
The emphasis will be on the integration and evaluation of the four skills,
teaching techniques in reading and other subject areas and curriculum resources.
II. OUTLINE OF TOPICS:
1. Reading methods in F.I.P. and P.C.D.F.
2. Learning to read.
3.
Teaching to read: the functions, the strategies, the activities and
the evaluation.
4.
Children's Literature.
5. Integration and evaluation of the four skills.
6. Communicative approach.
7. Individualized instruction.
8. Working in groups (approach and strategies).
9. Error analysis in F.I.P. (correction techniques).
10. Teaching techniques.
11.
Learning assistance in F.I.P.
12. Curriculum resources.
III. REQUIREMENTS:
1.
An oral presentation.
2. A mid-term paper.
3. A final paper.
4. A group assignment (using A.V.A.).
5.
Construct a test (relative to one skill).
IV. ELIGIBILITY:
1. Native-like fluency in French.
2.
Teaching certification or some teaching experience.
3.
P.D.P. students (in immersion).
