COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course deals with a variety of approaches, teaching strategies and curricula, for
teaching French as a Second Language in elementary and secondary schools.
OBJECTIVES
The participant will acquire a better understanding of the theories, approaches and
methodology in the teaching of French as a second language; examine the linguistic, social
and cultural goals of the BC FSL curriculum framework and practices; examine course
materials used in programs for French as a Second Language in British Columbia; study
and practise teaching techniques; acquire skills in evaluating second language teaching and
learning; improve linguistic competence and confidence. The focus will be on the practical
application of the above.
