COURSE
DESCRIPTION
This course considers the nature of physical education, its
curriculum, and methodology that may be used to implement
developmentally appropriate programs. Sessions will be both
practical and theoretical to facilitate the understanding of child
centered and cooperative activities for active learning at the Primary
and Intermediate levels.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
1.
Students will develop three lesson plans, one in each of the areas
of dance, gymnastics and games. These will be presented to the
class and compiled by the instructors to form a teaching resource
for future reference - 35%.
2.
Assigned course readings which will be critiqued in written form -
25%.
3.
Students will respond in a cooperative learning situation to
sections of the new "Physical Education Curriculum Draft
Document" - 20%.
4.
Class Participation - 20%.
