    Topics to be covered:
    1.
    Curriculum Overview - A review of the mechanics of curriculum writing,
    the 1980 guide, and the implications of implementation since 1980.
    2.
    Individualization of Instruction - The process of grouping for instruction
    with specific reference to the levels approach as proposed in the guide.
    3.
    Teacher Effectiveness - The basic principles of teacher effectiveness as they
    relate to physical education. This will be done partly with observation
    of teaching procedures through video tape.
    4. Square/Folk Dance - The basic progressions in teaching dance will be covered
    with a variety of dances being introduced.
    S. Gymnastics - The levels approach to teaching gymnastics will be presented
    together with skills analysis.
    6.
    Outdoor Pursuits - The general principles and safety procedures of teaching
    outdoor activities together with a specific session in canoeing will be offered.
    7.
    Raquet Sports - The general principles of raquet sports with an emphasis on
    badminton and tennis will be offered.
    8.
    Basketball - The teaching progressions using the levels approach will be presented.
    9.
    Volleyball - The teaching progressions using the levels approach.
    10.
    Soccer - Teaching progressions and skill development.
    11.
    Physical Fitness - Aerobics principles / Weight training principles / Running
    principles
    12.
    Student Evaluation - Techniques for evaluating in the psychomotor, affective
    and cognitive domains will be presented and discussed.
    EVALUATION PROCEDURES
    1.
    A compendium of resource material (20%)
    2.
    Student Evaluation Instrument (20%) - Take one activity and prepare a cognitive,
    psychomotor and affective instrument at one level.
    3.
    An Annual Plan (40%) - A plan for a school including goals, program content,
    program balance, administrative details and evaluation procedures.
    4.
    A Unit Plan (20%) - A detailed unit plan including lesson plans. This can be
    a unit of the students choice.
