    COURSE DESCRIPTION
    This course introduces students to the main ideas, skills, materials, resources, understandings,
    and organizational concerns involved in teaching art in schools.
    TOPICS
    Hands-on experience, personal growth, and confidence building with art media such as: drawing,
    painting, computer graphics, printmaking, clay, found materials, and mixed media?
    Approaches to art making, art history, and art criticism in relation to current issues such as:
    Postmodernism, Feminism, Multiculturalism, and First Nations Art
    Evaluating art programs and student achievements
    Classroom organization and curriculum planning
    The aims of art education and the BC curriculum
    COURSE REQUIREMENTS
    Portfolio of class projects and lesson plans - 50%
    Critique of gallery/museum artwork - 20%
    Curriculum project or personal study (final paper) - 30%
