COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course will introduce students to the foundations of art education which includes a study of
the elements of art and design. Students will explore creative processes and the application of art
with respect to the age of their students and the subject(s) being taught.
OBJECTIVES
1.
Students will understand the theory and practice of six studio processes based on hands on
experience.
2.
Students will complete sketchbook assignments designed to explore the elements of art.
3.
Student will be introduced to the purpose of art and art education.
4. Students will demonstrate an understanding of curriculum planning by developing an
individual curriculum proposal.
5.
Students will participate in historical and analytical applications of study within an art
curriculum.
CONTENT
Goals of art education curriculum, hands on learning of art processes, examining/ evaluating
historical and contemporary art; and developing activities for individual teaching situations.
