DESCRIPTION
This course will introduce students to the foundations of art education that will
prepare them in teaching art to Primary, Intermediate and Graduation levels
(K-12).
OBJECTIVES
1.
Students will participate in a minimum of six studio processes and will
complete individual works based on this experience.
2. Students will be introduced to the origins and purpose of art education.
3.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of curriculum planning by
developing an individual curriculum proposal.
4. To introduce students to historical and analytical applications of study
within an art curriculum.
COURSE CONTENT
Included will be practical applications of drawing/sculpturing'painting and
ceramics, stages of creative, development, design as a visual found-ation,
computer technology, discipline-based art education, B.C. curri-culum,
developing a curriculum, sound teaching practices, establishing a creative
climate, displaying child art, special needs students in art (including the gifted),
group individual classroom study, art supplies and their use and current
philosophies in art education.
