DESIGNS FOR LEARNING: ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICS

This course is intended for teachers who already teach in the elementary grades as well as
prospective teachers. It covers a wide range of issues concerning the teaching of mathematics to
young children related to the changes in the curriculum for British Columbia. The five main units
are entitled: Mathematics in Elementary Classrooms, Numbers, Measurement and Data Analysis,
Geometry, and the Mathematics Curriculum.
Prerequisite:
EDUC 401/402. Students who have credit for EDUC 475 prior to 2001-2 semester
cannot take EDUC 475 for further credit.
