COURSE DESCRIPTION

Elementary mathematics can be stimulating for both teacher and student.

Elementary mathematics curriculum will be presented through a variety of

strategies and activities to promote interest and growth in the subject and

reduce anxiety. A problem solving focus will be emphasized throughout the

course.

• Number and Number Operations

• Estimation and Mental Computations

• Measurement

• Calculators and Computers

• Data Analysis

• Geometry

• Historical Topics and Algebra

• NCTM Standards

EVALUATIONS

Due dates and details will be discussed during the first session. Evaluation

will be based on the following:

• Attendance and participation

• Completion and presentation of unit plan with an activity

• One review of textbook or software
