COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course
is
designed for prospective and practising elementary
school teachers who wish to explore the fundamentals of the
learning/teaching process as it applies to mathematics. It attempts
to foster enjoyment of mathematics through the use of a variety of
activities and games selected to promote interest and growth in the
subject as well as to reduce anxiety
about performance.

- naming and counting
- operations on whole numbers
- fractions
- decimals
- percent
- the metric system
- problem solving
- geometry
TYPICAL REQUIREMENTS
-
attendance, participation and completion of homework assignments
- one or more oral presentations
- lesson plan assignment
- one written assignment
- field experience
Due dates and general guidelines will be discussed during the first
sessions.
