that they can all succeed at
- use what they learn in the study of other school subjects
and in the mathematics of their future grade level
This course wilt use a variety of materials and teaching strategies
to accomplish those objectives. It will relate closely to the B.C.

Education 475-4 Designs for Learning: Mathematics
Teachers of Arithmetic and Mathematics lessons want
to be certain that all students -
- master the understandings and skills of computation
- enjoy and work hard at the necessary activities
- meet challenges and problems of increasing
difficulty that they can all succeed at
- use what they learn In the study of other school
subjects and in the mathematics of their future
grade level
This course will use a variety of materials and
teaching strategies to accomplish those
objectives.
It will relate closely to the B.C. Curriculum Guide.
The course is for elementary and junior secondary
teachers but not only for those who specialize in
mathematics. It will be essentially practical and
it is hoped that participants will as part of the
course, use many of the strategies, materials and way
of working in their own classrooms. Consequently
every teacher will be able to affect what Is actually
done in the evening sessions.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
The course is intended primarily for
those who entered the Extended Studies
Diploma Program in the Fall of
1979.
However, students wishing to enter an
Extended Studies Diploma Program in the
Fall of
1980
are also eligible to
apply
for the course as are those wishing
to
use the credits for
degree completion.
