    DESIGNS FOR LEARNING: SOCIAL SCIENCES
    This course will familiarize students with the Social Studies curriculum in British
    Columbia, to examine the ideas underlying this curriculum, and to become adept at
    a range of practical methods appropriate to teaching this curriculum.
    PREREQUISITE: Educ. 401/402 or equivalent.

    COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
    The grades for Education 474 will be calculated as follows:
    - Assignments 2, 5 and 11
    ?
    20% each
    - Three of assignments 1,3,4,6.7,8,9,10,12, or 13
    ?
    10% each
    - General presentation which will include; spelling,
    ?
    10%
    grammar, and other technical matters. A portion
    of this will be allotted to each assignment.
    Criteria for marking will be clarity, coherence, and sensibleness in making
    arguments or presenting positions; clarity, simplicity, and appropriateness to grade
    level in designing units or examples of techniques; clarity and accuracy in reporting
    the positions, arguments or claims of others. Assignments should be typed and
    double spaced.
