DESIGNS FOR LEARNING: LANGUAGE ARTS (Secondary)

This course will examine various methods and materials used
in the study of English at the secondary level, along with an
exploration of recent trends in teaching English. Curriculum
planning, methods of evaluating students' progress, strategies
or promoting reading and use of the media, and techniques
for developing students' oral and dramatic skills will
be considered. Attention will be paid to the basic aims of
teaching writing, the place and treatment of grammar, and
work study. The course will review the various methods
of presenting literary forms such as the novel, the play
and the short story.
