This course is for practising and pre-service teachers of English as a Second/Foreign Language. Course
content will include an overview of different approaches in T.E.S.L. with an emphyasis on the
Communicative Approach; teaching techniques and development/selection of materials; unit and lesson
planning; evaluation of coursebooks/materials and students progress. Participants will develop materials
suitable for present or projected teaching situation.
Topics will include: Contexts in teaching English as a Second Language

Communicative Competence
Unit and Lesson Planning
Curriculum Design
Teaching Grammar & Pronounciation
Teaching Communication Skills
