    Curriculum E Instruction in Teaching English

    This course is designed for practising
    or
    pre-service teachers of English
    as a Second Language. The course content will include the examination of
    different approaches in T.E.S.L.; contextual restraints on implementation
    of strategies and the selection of content/materials; thematic development
    of units and lessons; evaluating texts and designing class tests. Participants
    will develop materials suitable for their present or projected teaching
    situation.
    Topics will include: Contexts in teaching English as a Second Language
    Approaches to teaching English as a Second Language
    Communicative and cultural competence
    Unit and Lesson planning
    Review of Grammar
    Functions and forms in language
    Teaching pronunciation
    Writing Speaking
    Listening F Reading
    Testing
    Evaluation of textbooks and E.S.L. materials
    Evaluation will be based on:
