    OJBECTIVES:
    1. To acquire an ability to analyze, select, and evaluate works
    of children's literature.
    2.
    To understand the major genres of children's literature: myth,
    hero tale, folktale, fantasy, realism, and poetry.
    3.
    To acquire strategies for developing a literature curriculum
    for grades 4-7.
    4.
    To develop methods for presenting stories and poems in the
    classroom.
    ASSIGNMENTS:
    1.
    2 essays of about 1000 words each, worth approximately 25% each.
    2.
    1 midterm exam, worth approximately 25%.
    3.
    Class reports and discussion, worth approximately 25%.
