COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is intended as a basic theoretical introduction to the
education of young children in preschool, daycare, and public school
settings. Major areas of focus will include:
1.
Philosophical and Psychological Issues relevant to ECE.
2.
The psychological foundations of a variety of ECE instructional
practices, from teacher-directed lessons to instructionally designed
play environments.
3.
Applications of selected theories relevant to instructional planning at
the preschool and primary levels.
