Calendar Description: Current trends, issues and research relating to the education of young
children.
Objectives:
Students will explore philosophical views of Early Childhood Education seen in historical
perspectives as a foundation for the study of the young child ages 3 to 8. An examination of
current research and theories of child development will be integrated with practice in observation to
enhance students' awareness of the child's point of view. Implications for the teacher will be
discussed.
