    EDUC. 461-4 TRENDS AND DEVELOPMENT IN EDUCATIONAL PRACTICE

    ENDERBY SITE
    The course will focus on one particular development in educational practice:
    self-education. A variety of materials on self-education developed by
    Gibbons and Philips will be examined. (See course outline Education 486 -
    Special Topics): "In self-education individuals plan, select and manage
    their own learning and development. Class sessions are divided between
    presentations on related topics (needs assessment, Walkabout, Challenge
    Education, Self-Directing Professional) and practical application through
    field activities."
    STUDENT REQUIREMENTS
    1. regular class attendance and participation in all part of the class
    2.
    completion of required readings
    3.
    project(s) design and implementation
    4.
    contributions to the professional growth of others in workshops, seminars,
    and group work tasks.
    VUAT TTATTCN
    The completion of student requirements will form the basis for final evaluation.
    Procedures for final evaluation and qualitative criteria for grading are
    to be determined by:
    a)
    the group as one of their group work tasks
    b)
    individuals as one component of their self-designed
    project(s)
