(Students are advised to wait until the first class meeting before purchas-
ing books)
The course is designed for teachers and prospective elementary and secondary
teachers. The emphases of the course will be On:
- the study of the learning of reading on the principles inherent in The
Subordination of Teaching to Learning. (in particular, the use of the
words in colour materials.)
- some general study of the learning of language.
- the learning of Spanish, devoting several sessions to acquiring basics
of speech and reading.
- the learning of Mathematics as it is appropriate to the above emphases,
all of which use algebraic approaches.
Students will be expected to work in their own schools with some aspects
of the course. The style in which meetings will be conducted is one in which
personal commitment and involvement are priorities.
