COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course will be both theoretical and practical in its content, and will incorporate a wide range
of practical activities for use by teachers in an elementary school setting. This extensive practical
component will engage students in the curricular areas of modified, creative and traditional
games; cultural, ethnic and creative dance; traditional and educational gymnastics. In addition, the
course will meet the individual needs of students, and may include other topics as requested.
The theoretical aspects of child growth and development patterns as they pertain to
implementation of the Ministry's current integrated resource package will be discussed.
Participants in this course will be exposed to a wide variety of teaching techniques, unit and lesson
plans.
EVALUATION
The students and the instructor will collaboratively develop the criteria in regard to assessment
and evaluation, as this reflects current Ministry practice within the public schools of British
Columbia. Topics may include the development of a yearly plan for a specific grade, lesson
planning, course participation, and/or a variety of other topics. Decisions in this regard will be at
the first class.
