COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course will further explore principals introduced in Educ.

(not necessary as a pre-requisite)
within dramatic and kinesthetic languages with a focus on the implications of integration into a variety of
contexts including the classroom. Through these investigations both formal and narrative, we will build
compositional studies in the following areas;
• Improvisation
• Choral work, animating poetry
• Play building (guest)
• Poetic narrative
• Prop manipulation and metaphor
• Role drama (guest)
• Social justice in drama
This class is structured with physical warm-ups followed by principals and skills developed through
action/play/reflection.
Readings and written assignments will be assigned throughout encouraging an active critical/theoretical
compliment to the studio work.
A final group presentation will be assigned incorporating the accumulated skills from the course.
The course will be focused on;
• Developing scripts through collaborative processes
• Integration of current and relevant topics within a play building structure
• Development of dramatic work through physical play.
• Breaking through conventions of drama in regards to character, representation, performance site and
spectatorship.
