COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course deals with theory, curricula and methodologies in drama education.
Outline of Possible Topics:

• drama and theatre
• drama as methodology
• the roles of the teacher & evaluation
• integrating the arts
• creative drama
• improvisation
• storytelling
• choral dramatization
• docudrama
• anthology; film and video
• media & drama criticism
• readers' theatre
• scene study
• stagecraft
• puppetry
• theatre history
OBJECTIVES
1.
To introduce students to a variety of approaches, techniques and sources for drama teaching.
2.
To acquaint students with pedagogical issues related to drama teaching.
3.
To engage in critical discussion regarding the theoretical grounding for drama education.
REQUIREMENTS

Theatre history project - 30%

Readers theatre project - 30%

Development of drama unit - 40%
4.
Leading warm-up exercises; active participation in class projects.
