LAW IN THE CURRICULUM

This course addresses the importance of law-related education in the K-12 curriculum, how legal
concepts and skills can be incorporated into various subject areas, and how different teaching
strategies can engage students with the law. The focus is on the methodology of teaching law in the
schools. EDUC 448 introduces students to the case study, mock trial, negotiation, mediation, justice
circle, story drama, and other strategies for teaching law to children. It also provides opportunities to
examine curriculum materials and resources, plan lessons, and develop curriculum for the classroom.
PREREQUISITE:
EDUC 401 / 402 or EDUC 446
