Course Description::
Attention
will
be focused on the similarities and dissimilarities which
other educational systems offer when contrasted with our own. China, Cuba,
the Soviet Union, the USA and the countries of the European Community
will be among those studied. The values underlying these systems, the
theory which guides them and the values which they seek to transmit to
their students will be examined. The purpose of the course will he
to understand better these educational systems in their own right and,
by contrast, to understand our own more
clearly.

provided during
the course. M*rials will be placed on reserve in
the
Library.
Requirements.:-
two or three short class presentations on specific topics
- one major research paper on a topic of the student's chocsing,
arising out of the substance of the course. (Where possible,
this will relate to ti:e student's specialism.)
