    Course Description:
    Attention will be focussed on societies whose educational
    systems provide a marked contrast to our own.
    ?
    China, Cuba,
    Russia and Tanzania will be among those studied.
    ?
    The values
    underlying these systems, the theory which guides them, and the
    values they seek to transmit to their students will be examined.
    The purpose of this endeavour will be to better understand these
    societies in their own right, and, by contrast, to understand
    our own more clearly.

    Ruth Gamberg, Red and Expert: Education in the People's
    Republic of China.
