    60 hours of credit. Available to PDP Generalist Module and EDUC 480
    participants only.
    DESCRIPTION
    This course is designed for PDP students to enable them to development awareness of and
    sensitivity towards multicultural issues in education as they obtain in the Lower
    Mainland schools of B.C. The course also gives students the opportunity to learn how to
    evaluate educational materials from a multicultural point of view and how to develop
    strategies for classroom use addressing multicultural problems as they occur.
    OBJECTIVES
    1.
    To develop an understanding of the educational implications of multiculturalism.
    2.
    To develop skills in cross-cultural communication.
    3.
    To develop self-awareness in the multicultural content we live in and to examine one's
    own activities regarding ethnicity and race.
    4.
    To examine problems occurring in the multicultural classroom and to develop
    strategies in solving them.
    5.
    Develop skills in evaluating school materials from a
    multicultural standpoint.
