    Education 431-4 Analysis of Educational Concepts
    I. ?
    Course Description
    The aim of this course is to examine and elucidate key educational concepts
    (such as 'education', 'knowledge', 'learning', 'teaching', 'indoctrination',
    etc.) that are funamental to the understanding, evaluation and development
    of educational theories. The course also deals with function of definitions,
    slogans, metaphors and models in educational arguments.
    The course should be valuable not only to educators and prospective
    teachers but to every person who has a serious Interest in the study of
    education.
    II. Course Requirements.
    A. Students will be expected to attend two one-hour lecture-discussion
    sessions and one one-hour tutorial each week.
    B. Papers (Percentage weighting for course grade shown in brackets)
    1.
    A short paper of about 500 words will be due June 17(10%)
    2.
    A longer paper of about 2000 words will be due July 29(30%)
    (Suggested essay topics and supplementary bibliography will
    bt distributed)
    C. Examinations - There will be short quizzes/papers during the semester(30%)
    and may be a 1 hour final examination based on the lectures and the
    required readings (30%).
