DESCRIPTION
This course will introduce concepts, practices and issues related to the nature and nurture of highly able and
gifted learners. Participants will learn to recognize and challenge these students in developmentally
appropriate ways and apply this understanding to classroom teaching.
OBJECTIVES
Students in this course will be able to:
1.
understand conceptions of giftedness and characteristics of gifted learners
2.
understand and apply methods for differentiating instruction
3.
design learning experiences appropriate for highly able learners

(This book will be available for purchase in class.)
In addition, students will be charged a $25.00 materials fee. The fee will be used to cover the cost of
