    COURSE DESCRIPTION
    This course will introduce students to several theories regarding the education of
    gifted learners. We will examine the identification of potentially gifted learners
    and devise appropriate learning situations for them. It is hoped that students will be
    able to put theory into practise by meeting a gifted learner and working with him/her.
    OBJECTIVES
    Participants in this course will:
    1.
    Understand the theory and be able to give examples of Creative and Critical
    Thinking Skills.
    2.
    Be able to work through designated problems with gifted learners using the
    Osborne/Parnes Creative Problem Solving (CPS) process.
    3.
    Identify gifted learners through the use of specific instruments or a set of
    behavioral characteristics.
    4.
    Design learning experiences to meet the needs of a specific gifted learner in the
    regular classroom or in a specialized setting.
    5.
    Describe the nature of giftedness in terms of current conceptions and definitions.
    6.
    Participate in a wide range of activities appropriate for gifted learners.
