PREREQUISITE:

Objectives:
Education 426 is a course that explores the challenges faced by children with communication (e.g., autism)
and/or genetic disorders (e.g., Down Syndrome, Fragile-X syndrome) in a school environment. The focus of
the course will be on intervention approaches to assist children with special needs in the classroom. Each
student will be required to conduct a case study which involves spending a minimum of 15 hours assisting a
child with special needs in a school environment.
