COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is intended for senior students or practising teachers who wish to explore the
contributions counseling can make in the classroom setting. Educ 425 is designed to develop
some counseling skills that can be applied within the classroom setting. A combination of
lectures, discussions, practise exercises and seminars will be used to explore such topics as:
different models of counseling, effective helping skills, the use of group discussion to promote
affective development, the application of counseling techniques in the classroom and the role
of the counselor in the school.
