PREREQUISITES
60 hours of credit. Education 220 or equivalent.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is intended for senior students or practising teachers who wish to
understand a variety of counselling and psychoeducational interventions in
schools. Theories of school counselling will be presented and discussed critically.
Practices of individual consultation/counselling, group guidance/counselling,
and psychoeducational programming will be demonstrated and examined with
respect to goals, strategies/skills, and content. Issues relating to implementation,
effectiveness, and ethical/legal considerations will be discussed.
