DESCRIPTION
Objectives:
Education 424 provides SFU students with an opportunity to provide individualized instruction to
children with learning disabilities. In the Summer 2004 lab, SFU students will be responsible for a.)
conducting an informal assessment of each child's learning difficulties and b) providing intervention for
one hour/day during the tutorial sessions in the summer. Some visits to children's home schools will be
required prior to the summer tutorial. All Education 424 students will be required to obtain a criminal
record check prior to working with the children.
Pre-requisite (or concurrent): Education 422
Time requirements:
Each SFU student will be required to attend the Tuesday (4:30-8:30) lecture as well as commit to a one
hour daily tutorial session, beginning Monday, July 10 and continuing Monday to Friday until Friday,
July 28th . The times of these tutorials are: 9:00-10:20, 10:00-11:20 and 11:00 to 12:20. Each SFU
student will sign up for one time slot at time of registration, on a first-come, first-serve basis.
PARTICIPATION IN THE DAILY TUTORIAL IN JULY IS MANDATORY. For each day that an
SFU student does not attend (with or without a reasonable excuse) 10% of the total marks for the course
will be deducted.
