EDUC 422
DESCRIPTION
Objectives:
Education 424 provides SFU students with an opportunity to provide individualized instruction to children
with learning disabilities. In the Summer 2004 lab, SFU students will be responsible for a.) conducting an
informal assessment of each child's learning difficulties and b) providing intervention for one hour/day during
the tutorial sessions in the summer. Some visits to children's home schools will be required prior to the
summer tutorial. All Education 424 students will be required to obtain a criminal record check prior to
working with the children.
Time requirements:
Each SFU student will be required to attend the Tuesday
(1:00-5:30)
lecture as well as commit to a one hour
daily tutorial session, beginning Monday, July 4 and continuing Monday to Friday until Friday, July 22nd.
The times of these tutorials are: 9:00-10:20, 10:00-11:20 and 11:00 to 12:20. Each SFU student will sign up
for one time slot at time of registration, on a first-come, first-serve basis.
PARTICIPATION IN THE
DAILY TUTORIAL IN JULY IS MANDATORY. For each day that an SFU student does not
attend (with or without a reasonable excuse) 10% of the total marks for the course will be deducted.
