    COURSE OBJECTIVES:
    1.. That students demonstrate competent administration,of
    one formal test (either in language assessment or )
    reading comprehension) and informal tests to pinp4int
    specific academic problems in children or adolescents.
    2.
    That students demonstrate competence in monitoring
    remedial progress in individual children/adolescents
    tutored..
    To achieve objectives (2), students will be required to do a
    one-month practicum, 4 mornings per week of one-hour
    duration each morning in July. There will be two shifts: 9
    - 10 a.m. 10 - 11:00 a.m.
    USE OF CLASS TIME:
    Class time will be spent on instructor's giving lectures and
    demonstrations of formal and informal tests, remedial
    strategies and graphing of students' remedial progress.
    There will also be visits to specific Learning Assistance
    Centres to demonstrate effective academic remediation of
    children/adolescents identified by schools as
    learning-disabled.
    In April, a detailed course outline will be available in the
    relevant box next to the Education receptionst.

    *NOTE: Please do not call the instructor for (a) permission
    to take this course without having taken Education 422; (b)
    for permission to attend partial lab sessions in July; (c)
