ANALYSIS OF TEACHING
SPRING 1979
Dr. Barbara I. Stafford.
"Analysis of Teaching" is designed to provide teachers with skills
and knowledge related to identifying, analyzing and observing major components
of the teaching-learning process. Research has pointed out that there is
often a discrepancy between what teachers think they are doing during the
instructional process and what they actually do. To decrease or eliminate
such a discrepancy, the course will focus on classroom climate, classroom
interaction, instructional strategies and formal and informal observation
techniques.
Students will be required to read and assess selected journal articles,
including research studies.
?
In addition to the reading assignments, students
will be expected to:
write three short papers,
2.
report on two classroom observations,
3.
prepare and analyze one videotape of themselves
teaching a fifteen to twenty minute lesson.
Grades will be based on the above assignments and participation throughout
the course.
