COURSE (Xflhit'XE:
Educ 422-4 is a study of the historic and conceptual foundations
of learning
disabilities and
an Introduction to
the
methodologies of diagnosis and remedlation
of learning disabilities. Course content will include; definitions and theoretical
perspectives, etiology, incidence, investigation of the various types of leaning
disabilities and their characteristics, assessment practices and general approaches to
remediatlon, service delivery models, and consideration
of
the lifelong situation of
learning disabilities.

Quizzes will be open book and will cover material from lectures, in-class videos,
textbook, and handouts. Topics for the papers will Indude using a piece of
children's literature to promote an understanding of learning disabilities, and a
short reflection paper. Each paper is expected to be about 3 pages in length.
DATES OF CLASSES:
Classes will be held on WedILesdiy evenings from 5:00 PM to 900 PM, January
15th
through April 16th (no c1ss on March 19th), at the
Northern Ughts College campus.
