    This course is designed as an introduction to the theoretical foundations
    of learning disabilities. Course content will include definition;
    symptomatology; learning characteristics; diagnosis: remediation,
    current state of services for the learning disabled child and
    adolescent.
    Grading criteria will be as follows:
    C - attend class and pass two exams at 80% criterian level
    B - criteria for "C" plus review and critique five articles on learning
    disabilities according to Instructor prepared criteria
    A - criteria for "C" and "B" plus 10 - 15 page paper comparing,
    contrasting or expanding, etc., on some issue in learning
    disabilities. Demonstrated knowledge, ability to synthesize,
    and clarity of expression will be important factors in final work.
