    Range of Topics
    The general objective of the course is to provide an avenue for guided
    study of the field of learning disability and children with learning
    problems. The course will involve a brief discussion of terminology
    and an historical overview of the field of learning disability, an
    examination of the works of the major theorists in the field, diagnosis
    or assessment in both the clinical and classroom setting (including
    discussion of available tests and informal methods of assessment),
    remediation in both the clinical and classroom setting, and other topics
    relating to learning and learning problems which might be of utility
    to the group. Field experience and observation will be arranged if
    possible. Primary focus will be given to the elementary school-aged
    child.

    will be announced the first week of class. Generally
    the assignments will be reasonable, with optional reading materials also
    made available.
    Requirements
    Abstracts of three articles in the current literature relating to
    learning disability.
    A project of potential use to the student. The project may be selected
    from a wide range of options, e.g., a paper of NO MORE than five type-
    written pages; practical field experience; preparation of materials
    of use to the student in the future; OR a student-proposed project
    of potential use. There will be two objective (multiple choice, etc.)
    tests and a take-home final.
