Course Description and Objective:
In incorporating the disciplines of history, geography, sociology, economics, and other social sciences,
social studies aims to provide students with a foundation of knowledge, understanding, and analytical
perspectives in confronting local, national, and even international issues. The focus of this methods
course integrates the theoretical and practical pedagogy of social studies education. The intent of this
course is to facilitate prospective and practicing teachers to develop engaging learning experiences for
students in their classroom through innovative and creative lesson and unit plans that will be used as
future teaching resources.
