DESCRIPTION
This methods course is for secondary social studies teachers. The orientation is less a matter of
'listen and learn' and more a matter of 'confer and produce'. You will be working with the
instructor and a small group of students to develop a comprehensive unit package (a set of lesson
plans and supporting materials) for the teaching of social studies at a chosen grade level. Disk copies
will be shared with other members of the class.
OBJECTIVE
To enhance teachers' ability to plan and make use of a wide variety of teaching strategies, learning
resources and assessment practices to deliver a social studies program that is engaging for students,
effectively integrates other subject areas and infuses critical thinking throughout.
